The origin of Gua Cherita

I was in Langkawi the other day for an assignment when I discovered there's a place on the island called Gua Cherita.

Here's the story behind how the name of the cave came about. Some time back in the 80s, a group of Mat Rock went into the cave to have a drink and talk cock, generally having a good time. So they laughed and traded stories. And then at one point, one of them said:

"Ok ok. Sekarang gua cerita, lu dengar."

And that's how it became Gua Cherita. And yes, you're right. I made that up.

Transformers fever

Through my own initiative, I managed to get a few Transformers for review. The story came out on Wednesday in Thingamajiggy.

I got three units from Hasbro Malaysia, namely Meister, Rodimus Prime and Bumblebee (Peugeot 206) but in the end decided only Meister was worth the space in NST.

Meister is some sort of a reincarnation of the Autobot Jazz. If you can remember, Jazz was a Porsche in the 80s but this one is a Mazda RX-8. Only the robot's head has been retained. And in terms of transformation, it's a lot more complicated than the original Jazz.

To be sure, it was my first experience with a Transformer. As a child, I loved Transformers but I had never owned any because they seemed so darned expensive. Either that, or I had a deprived childhood.

For some reasons, my favourite Transformer at the time was not Optimus Prime, but the Decepticon Starscream. I also liked Thundercracker. Maybe because the name sounds like some kind of biscuit.

But now as an adult, my favourite Transformer is the movie Bumblebee (2008 Chevrolet Camaro). In fact, I just bought one yesterday. Awesome toy! I'll tell more about that in the next post.
